Swish. The sound of the basketball going through the hoop. The regular NBA season began on October 21, 2025. That day, the Golden State Warriors played against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors started the current season off strong by winning against the Lakers with a score of 119 to 109. Since then, as of Friday, November 14, 2025, they’ve played a total of 14 games, with six, almost half of those games, being losses.
“I was really scared coming into the season,” said student Akash Singh (12), “I thought it was going to be abysmal.”
However, their current performance is better than what some Warriors’ fans had been expecting. Fans have also noticed plenty of reasons why the Warriors’ performance has not been as great compared to their peak seasons.
“In the games we're losing, we’re not playing our best, or we don't have enough energy,” said student Izyan Khalfan (8).
The lack of energy at times that fans have noticed could be due to an important factor: age.
“With a lot of the old guys still playing, it's become an issue later on in the fourth quarter,” said student Jason Lee (11).
Another problem that fans have pointed out is the lack of rotation.
“The Warriors are struggling. Mainly due to some not so clear rotation,” continued Lee, “Rotational issues from the coach.”
This further becomes an issue with an older team. The Warriors have many players in their mid to late 30s, when typically, the late 20s is considered the prime age for players in the NBA. Important players such as Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler III are 35 years old or older.
“It's a really old team, and they don't have any rotation players to give these old players rest,” continued Singh.
This worries Warriors’ fans that they will not be able to keep up until the end of the season.
Still, the Warriors do have some younger players. During the off-season, the Warriors re-signed 23-year-old Jonathan Kuminga, who has proved he can play at a high level.
“Kuminga's showing his potential,” said Lee.
Kuminga’s not the only one, though. Fans’ attention has been captured by the abilities of 23-year-old Moses Moody.
“Moses Moody is young, and he's a great player. I like the energy he brings,” said Singh.
The Warriors have also had more additions to the team that fans have appreciated. During the off-season, they signed the former Boston Celtics player, Al Horford.
“Al Horford is a good add-on. That's a lot of defensive plays, and he also can shoot a lot of threes,” continued Khalfan.
Some of the new rookies have also been gaining recognition.
“I've been impressed by the up-and-coming rookie, Will Richard,” continued Singh.
Despite the Warriors losing the game on November 5 against the Sacramento Kings, Richard had an amazing performance. He grabbed seven rebounds, made three assists, contributed one steal, and scored 30 points in just a total of 35 minutes.
Even so, Warriors’ fans aren’t able to dismiss the loss that night, and the poor performance in other games of the Warriors.
“A lot of agony and pain. They were down by 36 in the third quarter [of the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on November 11],” continued Lee, “It pained me to see that. A lot of Warriors’ fans are sharing that pain.”
This mediocre performance leaves fans with low expectations. They predict the Warriors will, at best, be the sixth or eighth seed, and lose their first round in the playoffs, or possibly, at worst, lose in the Play-In Tournament and not even make the playoffs.
Despite this, fans haven’t stopped hoping for the best result for the Warriors.
“We're missing a consistent, young, larger player. If we get that either through a trade or free agency, the Warriors might have a better chance,” said Lee.
Previously, the Warriors have won seven NBA championships. This comes with the success, fame, and feelings of accomplishment, but also the NBA Championship Ring, which is a custom-designed ring awarded to the winning team of the NBA finals.
“I hope they get the ring. The ring would be insane,” said Singh.
The Warriors have not had the best season so far, but their fans are still hopeful that they can turn things around to return to what they once were and be a strong contender for the 2026 NBA title.
“We’ve got to win this all the way,” said Khalfan.
