BIFU middle schoolers went on an exciting field trip to Oracle Park on September 10th. Many students were excitedly talking about it for days and were eager to watch the baseball game between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Before the game, the weather was cold and raining, but when we arrived, the sun started to shine brightly upon the stadium! The students had a special opportunity to listen to a speaker who talked about their experiences in the military, and many curious listeners asked questions. BIFU students were eager to watch the game and bought some snacks while they were at it.
Many students liked watching games at the stadium live rather than watching them at home.
“It feels more realistic,” said Lucas Chen (7).
“More vibe, more money, more vision. I can clearly see every out and every hit,” said Jaylen Zhou (7).
Even though the Giants lost to the Diamondbacks 5-3, many students still enjoyed watching the Giants play and shouted out to their favorite players.
“The best part about the game was the crowd staying with the team and supporting them no matter what,” said a Giants fan from the audience
There were many exciting and disappointing moments, with close-outs and shocking hits, keeping the crowd on their toes. Several students also bought souvenirs! The worker who was selling cotton candy had to go get more because the students devoured it! People ate food and snacks and slurped on their drinks while they were spectating the game.
Bo-Qian Hsueh (6th), Ranjani Singavarapu (7th), and Izyan Khalfan (8th) even went on the Giants' main screen and represented the BIFU students!“The most exciting part of the game was when the camera panned to us and we all cheered,” said Veronica Yuen (7).
The Giants mascot, Lou Seal, threw us T-shirts, and a handful of us caught them. Students also brought their own baseball gloves to see if they could catch a game ball, and also brought plushies, hats, and shirts to represent the amazing team. The pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders did an amazing job, and the batters hit it far and strong.
The BIFU middle school students had an unforgettable experience cheering on the Giants at the game. The energy in the stadium was electric as the team gave it their all, creating an exciting atmosphere that left a lasting impression.
“For first comers, it was exciting for us to watch baseball, and we really enjoyed it,” Martin Xu (7) said.
It was a fantastic opportunity for students to bond, support their team, and enjoy a memorable day filled with school spirit and sportsmanship.
